International Semester in Humanities

    The International Semester in Humanities is an opportunity for International Bachelor students who want to spend one or two terms at the Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge, attending courses which are taught completely in English.

    During this exciting and challenging period, participants can attend either one or two terms (5 months long each) in Pisa, visit historical sites in Tuscany and in Italy, discover the local culture and establish networks with students and people around the world.

    Academic program

    Our International Semester in Humanities offers a varied and intensive agenda of specialised courses in Archaeology, Art, Cinema, Theatre, Literature, History, Philosophy, etc.

    The courses are academically challenging with a strong applied focus on the material culture and art of Italy. Interaction between students and lecturers is highly encouraged.

    Students can choose either one single term (Fall 2018 or Spring 2019), or one year programme (two terms). Each term, students can obtain up to 30 ECTS credits by choosing from a selection of courses.

     

    Fees

    One term: € 1,500

    Two terms: € 3,000

    The fee covers the tuition fee for the courses, the assistance of a logistics coordinator, a top-up card for the dining halls, access to the library system of the University and Italian language courses (offered at the CLI).

    Not included in the fee: transport, accommodation, individual sightseeing trips and personal expenses.

     

    Venue and facilities

    All courses are held at the Department of Civilizations and Forms of Knowledge, in modern and well equipped rooms. Access to quiet study areas, computer facilities and free wireless Internet access is provided for all participants.

     

    Accommodation and support

    Participants will be helped to find accommodations in downtown Pisa, in quiet and safe neighbourhoods. Amenities and shops are within walking distance. We guarantee professional assistance by the logistics coordinator and city tutors.

    First term (Fall 2018) and one year programme:

    Application deadline: June 15th, 2018

    Deadline to pay the total amount: August 3rd, 2018. 

     

    Second term (Spring 2018):

    Application deadline: December 15th, 2018

    Deadline to pay the total amount: February 1st, 2019. 

     

    Payments must be made via bank transfer  to the Dipartimento di Civiltà e Forme del Sapere, Università di Pisa.
