Housing and Meals

    Housing

The University of Pisa provides a number of housing options such as living in a B&B or in a hotel, or residing with a family as a paying guest. The latter is strongly recommended as an opportunity to improve Italian language skills through cultural immersion and to better understand the Italian lifestyle. Housing assignments are finalised before students arrive in Italy and are based on preferences listed on the application form.

All accommodation is carefully selected in safe and central areas of the city and is located within a 30-minute travel time (by foot, bike or bus) to the Study Centre.

Students may choose from any of these accommodations which are located in various areas of the city centre. Some are fully equipped with kitchen supplies, bedding, washing machines, and Internet connection. Typically, 2 students share one room.

Paying guest in an Italian home

As a guest within an Italian family the student will have his/her own room and a key to the apartment. Students who choose this option will receive invaluable cultural insight through their host family and achieve faster progress with the Italian language. The fees vary from family to family so the students should specify the range they are able to pay.

Please note that housing assignments are finalised before students arrive in Pisa and are based on preferences listed on the application form. Students’ personal data and addresses in Pisa are registered with the local authorities upon arrival in accordance with Italian law.

    Meals

All students will receive a magnetic ‘mensa’ card with which they can eat twice per day (lunch and dinner) at the University’s dining halls alongside local students. Alternatively, they may choose to eat at their own expense at any of the local restaurants.
