LOGISTICS

 

 

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

Students must be equipped with clothing suitable for the summer season and have:

  • Sleeping bag
  • Towels / Bathrobe
  • Items required for personal hygiene

In addition, for archaeological excavation, it is required to be in possession of:

  • Comfortable work clothing
  • Safety shoes category S1P ( closed-toe work shoes with reinforced soles )
  • Lightweight long pants/trousers
  • Comfortable work gloves
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • A hat to protect the head from the sun during the hottest hours of the day
  • K-way or waterproof jacket

Students must have some warm clothes for the evening and night, because of the large fluctuation in temperatures, between day (>90°F) and night (< 65°F), during summer in the Fucino area.

MEALS

A typical Italian breakfast consisting of coffee or cappuccino and pastries; lunch and dinner will be Italian “family style”. While every effort will be made to accommodate students with severe food allergies (nuts, shellfish, etc.), the school does not guarantee that individual lifestyle and dietary choices (vegetarianism, veganism, etc.) will be accommodated. Students with severe food allergies are required to communicate their specific dietary restrictions to the field school’s organizers immediately upon admission. Meals are only provided for the days in which students attend the school (weekends included). Meals out of the school (weekends, free time, dinner at a restaurant/pizzeria, pubs, etc.) are not included in the fees.

TRANSPORT

Staff will have vehicles for transportation of students, materials and supplies to and from the site, as well for any emergency transportation. Staff will be available to students for any request
