How to get

The Fucino area (former Fucine Lake) is situated in central Italy, Abruzzo region, province of L’Aquila.

By plane
The Fucino area has no airport.
Anyway, you can easily reach Fucino by train or bus from the main national and international Roma-Fiumicino airport. Train and bus connections are there provided to many railway stations in Rome, in particular, Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina.
Roma-Ciampino airport is connected by subway or bus to Roma Termini railway station.
Bus service is provided among airports in Rome (Ciampino and Fiumicino) and Avezzano (town 11 km away from Celano)
Other available airports in central Italy are also: Pescara-Liberi (99 km), Napoli-Capodichino (184 km), Perugia-Sant’Egidio (204 km).

The better choice is:
1) -Arrive at Rome airport.

2) Take a train or bus to Roma Tiburtina train station

3) Take a train from Roma Tiburtina to Avezzano (for this travel you can buy an e-ticket at this link: http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en  and complete the form:

By bus

From Italy and abroad, many bus services provide a connection between a lot of cities and Avezzano (11 km away from Celano)
At the Roma Tiburtina railway station, a bus service provides connection to and from Avezzano.

By car
You can reach Celano from A25 motorway (exit: Aielli-Celano), or from some state highways. The motorways in the area are also part of European route E80.
After the motorway exit Aielli-Celano, turn right (West) on the state highway 5 (SS5). Then follow indication and signs to Celano. In order to avoid to get lost in the Fucino area, it is very recommended to use a high detailed map and/or a GPS device. Due to agricultural activities, trucks and tractors could move often even on the smaller roads.
